All Aboard Storage Plans “Micro” Self-Storage

All Aboard Storage Micro

Port Orange, FL – Local family-owned company, All Aboard Storage that specializes in self-storage in the Daytona Beach area, has once again pushed the limits of what was thought possible in self-storage industry with new plans on the microscale – miniature storage.

If memory serves, last year All Aboard Storage broadened their horizons with the “Lunar Self-Storage Initiative” to complete construction of their storage units on the moon.

In recent news, however,  CEO Andy Clark announced a strategic push for his company to open one storage facility per year to keep expanding the reach of the All Aboard Storage brand. In light of this new development of micro-storage facilities, he commented:

“Being the leader in the self-storage arena comes with the expectation to always push the possibilities of what we can accomplish. With our lunar initiative and the grand scale of space, it only felt natural to consider the opportunities in the opposite direction on the nano-scale for self-storage.”

Storage units on the micro-scale you say? With current advances in technology, “nano-assets” as they are being called, have opened several new exciting fields for work occupations as well as breakthroughs in the travel industry. Considering these recent headlines, it makes sense:

  • Tesla Motors & Toyota Join Forces on MicroSUVs
  • Shortage of Nano-Pilots Met by Nano-Degrees
  • Human Lifespan Increases: Tiny Robot Doctors Hailed
  • Medical Field Revolutionized By Nano Doctors
  • Small Travel Booming in a Big Way
  • Innerspace Tops Travel 3 Years Running
  • UPS to Test Cellular Deliveries
  • 1 in 20 Nano-Commuting to Work

Where are people going turn when they need to safely and securely store these nano-assets they’re using for work and play? People are already beginning to cry out for a place to put these valuables that include specialized robots, vehicles, tools, and now micro-toys whose equivalents are the boats & RVs in our macro world.

CFO of All Aboard Properties, Michael Polito, commented – “We want to be ahead of this next wave of customer demand. Running the numbers, the current self-storage market supports 7 square feet of storage space per person living in the area. On the small scale, the numbers shrink to 7 square micrometers per person which is very exciting. We could open 10 micro-depots in the span of a week that fit on the tip of your finger.”

Miniature Storage

Public demand for all things small has exploded with shows like Tiny Houses, MicroPawn Stars, and even local tastes are changing with Krispy Kreme releasing tiny versions of their popular donuts that boast big taste:

While they aren’t releasing details on how storage auctions will work on the micro-scale, inside sources revealed the possibility of pocket units you could theoretically carry with you wherever you go.

Parent company All Aboard Properties, long known for its community service efforts, was (maybe not coincidentally) in the news for its successful efforts on the cleanup of the microscopic pollution spill near Port Orange. When asked how All Aboard was able to quickly deploy so many nano-assets to complete the cleanup CEO Andy Clark smiled and commented “We have several tools at our disposal and we always try to keep an ace in our pocket at all times.”

De-Clutter for 2016 Using a Storage Unit

Do you have stress in your life? One thing that has shown to help with this is getting rid of excess “stuff” that could be piling on unnecessary stress.

If you stop and ask yourself “Why am I keeping this?” it might be because it could be something useful “someday” or maybe it’s sentimental or maybe it’s just something you hadn’t gotten around to.

You can perform the time-tested and very valid strategy of categorizing your things into:

  • Throw Away
  • Donate or Recycle
  • Keep

This works wonders when it comes to organizing your life and removing things that you don’t use on a regular basis.

If you’re short on space like most of us are, another strategy that works wonders is to rent a storage unit for those “keep” items that you might not use all the time.

How Much Should & Do Storage Units Cost?

How Much Should & Do Storage Units Cost?

If you’ve never had to rent storage from a local storage facility then you might not know, what is the cost of a storage unit? And more importantly, how much should storage units’ prices cost?

You wouldn’t just show up and buy a car without doing some price-shopping beforehand such as checking Kelly Blue Book or websites like Auto Finder. So what affects storage rates?

As with any product, there are a number of factors that contribute to the storage prices.

  • Size of the unit (3×3, 5×10, 10×10, etc.)
  • Self-storage or climate-controlled
  • Location of the facility
  • Which floor the unit is located on
  • Occupancy rate of the facility
  • Don’t forget storage insurance!
  • Are there hidden fees?

Any number or combination of these things can cause the price for storage space to go up or down.

Size of the Storage Unit

Storage units come in different shapes and sizes. Depending on how much you want to store, you can fit a lot more as you go up in floor area. Some of the more common sizes are:

  • 3×3’s – 9 sq. ft.
  • 5×10’s – 50 sq. ft.
  • 10×10’s – 100 sq. ft.

Self-storage or Climate-Controlled?

If you’re storing items that might degrade with temperature fluctuations, choosing climate-controlled will up the price a bit since they need to have a stable environment.

Location of the Facility

If there are several storage facilities in the area, this could possibly cause the price to go down due to the normal business rules of competition and what the market can bare.

Which floor is the storage unit located on?

You might save a few bucks if you rent a storage unit that’s not located on the ground floor since it’s extra work to use freight elevators to go up and down.

Occupancy Rate of the Facility

Another business rule that comes into play just as it does for hotels is how full is the storage facility?

Don’t forget storage insurance!

Since we require storage insurance to protect all of our customers, don’t forget to factor this into your storage unit cost that is quoted. You can save some money by showing proof of home owner’s insurance to negate this cost!

At All Aboard Storage, our systems automatically calculate the price of storage due to all of these factors. We keep very competitive prices when it comes to competing with local self-storage companies and are confident you’ll find that what we offer is worth the money.

Parking & Storing Your RV

Parking & Storing Your RV

If you’re a snow bird, what do you do for RV parking and storage?

Down here in Daytona Beach, we have people from all over visit our beautiful area, most of which are snow birds from Canada in the Ontario and Quebec regions. They bring their families in tow as well as an extra vehicle to get around so they don’t have to get around town in their motorhome.

Taking a road trip down to Florida can be a lot of fun, but what do you do with your RV or camper when you get here? You have a few options:

  • Park in an RV park
  • Parking at a friend or family’s house
  • Keep on the move
  • Parking at a storage facility

The first couple are obvious and the third one is a bit of a challenge, but for the first one what if you don’t want to pay the high cost of an RV park? Also, what if you don’t have any friends or family down here?

Choosing a storage facility might be a great option if you’re looking for both covered RV storage or just secure vehicle storage or parking (for RVs that do not need to be sheltered from the elements).

With Biketoberfest approaching quickly followed later in the spring by Bike Week and then right in the middle snow birds flying down, large vehicle storage units start to fill up so make sure to grab your space today!

If you need RV and boat storage, consider choosing All Aboard Storage to pull up your camper, motorhome, boat or trailer for indoor and outdoor vehicle storage and parking. We have several locations around our broad area where you can just pull up your RV or trailer and park.

Check out our online prices and reserve today! We have space for you!

Why Self Storage Unit Insurance is Important

Why Self Storage Unit Insurance is Important

When storing your valuables at a local self-storage facility, one important thing to keep in mind is why insurance for storage units is important.

All Aboard Storage requires all customers to have some form of self-storage insurance to cover their rental unit. This insurance can be in a form you can purchase through us from a company we partner with, or you can also provide proof of insurance from your personal home owner’s insurance.

Insurance is never a fun subject, but one that’s extremely important to protect you.

If a situation arises where one customer breaks the rules and stores things they were not supposed to and something like a fire breaks out, your valuables could be in danger. Some things that could possibly happen could include but are definitely not limited to:

  • Customer negligence
  • Fire
  • Flood
  • Toxic chemical spill
  • Natural events such as hurricanes or tornadoes

We’re not in the insurance business. That’s not the product that we specialize in which is why we only partner with an insurance company to offer competitive rates and encourage you to bring in proof of coverage from your home owner’s insurance to get around that extra fee. We’re in the business of being the caretaker of what you value, so making sure every customer is covered is our central priority.

Do I Need Storage Unit Insurance?

For some local self-storage facilities like All Aboard Storage, it’s automatically required, but if your storage company doesn’t require it, we highly recommend that you get some form of storage unit insurance coverage or you’re running a risk that you don’t need to.

Does Home Owner’s Insurance Cover Storage Units?

You might already be covered if you have home owner’s insurance. Since all insurance policies are different, we can’t tell you if your policy covers your things at a storage facility. You’ll need to check with your insurance company.

Does Renter’s Insurance Cover Storage Units?

Since all insurance policies are different, we can’t tell you if your renter’s insurance covers storage units. Again, you need to check with your insurance company.

Protect What you Value

You cover your car, your home, & your life so if you’re storing things that you value, make sure they’re covered from loss.

We care about every customer which is why we take this seriously. Come in and talk to us sometime. We’re happy to help you.

Using Self Storage Facilities for Local Parking

Using Self Storage Facilities for Local Parking

If you’re in the situation where you have a car, RV, boat, work truck or the like, where do you park it?

You might try parking your vehicle at home or maybe even try getting permission to park locally somewhere, but is there something better than the below options?

Parking your Work Truck at Home in an HOA

If you live in an HOA and want to try parking your work truck with your business signage on it, good luck. HOAs are one of the most restrictive places to live when it comes to things such as this. Most HOAs have rules against this, but some people try it for a short amount of time.

Parking your RV Locally for Free

Trying to park your RV for free can be a challenging adventure requiring you to constantly keep your RV on the move to keep your vehicle within your local parking time limits. This usually means overnight RV parking gets hard to find.

There are also Central Florida RV Parks, but if you plan to leave your RV, this might be a more expensive option.

Getting Permission to Park your Vehicle at a Business

Some businesses will gladly give you the OK to park your vehicle at a business or in a back lot that’s not being used, but that opens you up to other issues. The big drawback to this one would be security since you might be parking your vehicle away from watching eyes, security cameras, and completely open to the general public or passerby.

Using Local Storage Facilities for RV Parking, Boat Parking, or Car Parking

One of the best options that’s free of hassles and can even provide indoor or covered parking is reserving a parking space at your local self-storage facility.

This will give you the best of all world’s when it comes to:

  • Ease of access
  • Security
  • Peach of mind
  • Protection from the elements (if covered)

If you’re in need of some local parking in Daytona Beach, Port Orange, or Ormond Beach areas, consider All Aboard Storage to keep your vehicle safe and secure.

Climate Controlled vs. Non-Climate Controlled Storage

Climate Controlled vs Non-Climate Controlled Storage

What is the difference between a climate controlled storage unit vs non-climate controlled storage unit?

Depending on where you are in the country, the temperature inside a storage unit can vary greatly whether it’s extremely cold outside like up north or very hot outside like us here in Florida. This isn’t an issue if you’re storing things that aren’t affected by the heat or cold, but some items might be ruined or degraded over time if they’re exposed to the extremes. Using a Storage Unit for College

Using a Storage Unit for College

When going to college, one question that might come up is what do you do with your stuff?

If you’re like most people who go off to higher education, you’re either going to college while living at home with your parents, or maybe you’re staying in a dorm, or maybe you’re even off-campus in an apartment or condo.

In any case, if you have a lot of stuff and now you’re adding dorm stuff to the equation, you might do well considering renting a storage unit from a local self-storage company in the area to help keep your life sane. Continue reading Using a Storage Unit for College
